About us

The journal “Etica pubblica. Studi su legalità e partecipazione” (Public Ethics. Studies on legality and participation) stems from a major assumption: legality can not be reduced to the repression of unlawful acts. Legality is mainly the product of a shared idea of common good and public interest that may prevent and control behaviors that threaten and harm civil coexistence. A political culture aimed at the general interest calls for active participation to public life, and for a political culture through which citizens can feel they are actively engaged in the life of the community. As Robert Dahl once wrote, “Democracy also requires, among other things, inclusiveness, enlightened understanding and effective participation”.
